What is the shaking head meme?
The shaking head meme is a close-up reaction loop. An animal — first a calf, then cats and dogs — squeezes its eyes shut in a smug, closed-mouth grin and slowly shakes its head side to side. Then its eyes snap wide open into an innocent stare, often with the tip of the tongue out, and it starts over.
The face is half the joke; the caption is the other half, usually about a friend who did something annoying and looks very pleased about it. ShakingHead makes the face from your own photo so you only have to write the caption.

Pets or you
Two modes, same meme, same price.
Pet shaking head
Dog, cat, calf, bunny — one animal facing the camera becomes the smug face and the wide-eyed stare.
- Keeps the breed, fur and markings from your photo
- Keeps your room or background
Selfie shaking head
Do the face yourself without filming it: one front-facing photo becomes your own smug shake.
- Keeps your face, hair and clothes
- Only you or a consenting adult
Who it works for

Dog shaking head meme
Puppies and grown dogs both work. A face-on close-up with the eyes clear of fur gives the most readable stare.

Cat shaking head meme
The cat version made the trend big. A cat looking straight into the lens makes the innocent stare land.

The calf that started it
Farm animals work too. Get close enough that the face fills the middle of the photo.

Your own selfie
Make the face yourself for the reaction-to-a-friend version. Use a well-lit, front-facing selfie.
